Washing the Scout neckerchief
Naturally, Scout neckerchiefs show signs of wear. Although a dirty scarf has a higher sentimental value, it is still nice to wear a clean scarf sometimes.
When washing a Luotsityttö neckerchief, be careful not to turn white into pink. It is best to wash the neckerchief by hand, using cool water. Detergent and rubbing will help remove stains.
What does Scouting cost?
The only mandatory annual fee is the Scout membership fee, which is similar in nature to a license fee: by paying the membership fee, you can participate in the activities of the Scout Troop, Scout District and Guides and Scouts of Finland. For 2025, the amount will be 60-80 euros, which consists of the Scout Troop’s own membership fee, the Scout District’s share and the Central Organization’s share. More information about membership fees can be found on the Finnish Scouts website.
The Central Organization always invoices the membership fee for one year at a time in the previous autumn, for example, in autumn 2023 the membership fee for the entire calendar year 2024 will be invoiced. However, those starting Scouting in autumn can enjoy the first season as if for free, as they will only be sent a membership fee invoice for the following calendar year directly.
You can apply for an exemption from the membership fee before the due date. Read more on the Finnish Scouts website.
